UAE’s Wage Policies

UAE’s Accounting Policies

In order to guarantee that workers receive their salaries on schedule, the UAE government implemented the Wage Protection System (WPS) back in 2009. The UAE’s applicable wage payment regulations are shown below.

  • It is mandatory for all businesses in the United Arab Emirates that are registered with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE) to guarantee that their employees receive their wages via the “Wages Protection System (WPS)”.
  • With the exception of situations where the employment contract specifies otherwise, all employees must get their earnings within 15 days of the due date. Wage payments to employees will be due on the first of each month after the designated payment period.
  • Penalties and fines will be imposed for failure to pay salaries within the allotted period.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to some common questions related to WPS in the UAE.

The UAE’s electronic wage transfer system, known as the Wages Protection System (WPS), enables private sector companies to pay employee salaries through banks and other approved financial institutions.

Businesses that are registered with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE) must register with WPS. Businesses in most free zones are exempt from registering with WPS since they have their own payment systems in place.

Absolutely, we will assist you with the WPS registration process. Additionally, we can help you open bank accounts for the purpose of transferring salaries.

In the event that numerous employees’ salaries are delayed by more than sixty days, there may be a cumulative penalty of up to AED 50,000.

For the first offense of failing to pay salary within 60 days, these companies risk having their ability to get new work licenses revoked, being referred to court for extra processes, and/or paying fines to MoHRE. If many employees’ salaries are delayed, there might be a cumulative penalty of up to AED 50,000 for the second infraction within a year.
